| Abstract: | Based on soil plasticity and limit analysis theorem, togethor with two three-dimensional failure modes of cohesionless backfill, this paper presents a general formula of upper bound values of active soil pressure acted on rough retaining walls during earthquakes. These formula in the paper are verified by some calculation examples. |
