The Custom of Chu Imbodied in Chu Xiu Paint Furniture

People of the state of Chu had fundamental believes of ＇respect phoenix,worship sun and fire＇,besides these,they also had prevailing customs of ＇ red,east,left and witch worship＇ and ＇depreciation of dragon and tiger＇.All of these could be resulted as Chu state customs.Used them as the skeleton,this article elaborates the origin of these Chu state customs and analyse their concrete embodiment in Chu state lacquer furniture.So as to reveal features of Chu state lacquer furniture on decoration,appearance,color,lay-out and so on.
