Abstract: | Results of a US survey show that psychologists are well represented on psychiatry faculties but tend to hold lower academic rank and receive lesser salaries than psychiatrists in equivalent ranks. Results also indicate rigorous criteria for promotion in these departments. Positive aspects, including patient contact and clinical research opportunities, are noted.
