Abstract:TCSC(thyristor controlled series capacitor) is a device belonging to FACTS(Flexible AC Transmission System) which began to develop in the seventies of last century.TCSC can change network parameters by changing the line reactance value to achieve control of system.With the development of modern power system,the system size increasing,more and more high-voltage level has been using.As transmission capacity can not meet the needs of load growth,and power market operation needs to use more control means,using TCSC to increase transmission capacity,control power flow and improve stability of the system is urgent.In the paper a transient flow analysis and control mode of TCSC the system was established.With a three-phase short-circuit fault occurring at the terminal of the tie-line,the tie-lines’ transmission capability of multi-machine systems satisfying transient stability was studied.The simulation result shows that the discrete controller of TCSC enhances significantly the transmission capability with conventional controllers.
