Abstract: | Use is made of simple geometrical optics to obtain back-scattering cross sections of arrays of identical spheres, both for broadside and end illumination. Experimental data are given for two- and three-sphere arrays for all angles of illumination and for various spacings of spheres. It is shown that a reasonable knowledge of the general behavior of the cross sections may be obtained even from simple geometrical considerations. |
