Abstract:The halogen free flame retardant high melt strength polypropylene(IFRE02ES)was prepared by E02ES filling with halogen free intumescent fire retardants(IFRBrici).The effects of IFRBrici on burn characteristics and foambility of IFRE02ES were studied by burning tests,cone calorimeter,SEM,and melt strength test.The result shows that with the increase of IFRBrici addition,the flame retardancy increased.When IFRBrici is 25%(w)in IFRE02ES02,limited oxygen index of IFRE02ES02 is 35.5%.With the increase of IFRBrici addition,the melt strength decreases.Although IFRE02ES02 exhibits lower melt strength than pure E02ES,it still exhibits better melt strength than general polypropylene(PP).The foambility of IFRE02ES02 is better than that of the general PP.IFRE02ES02 quickly generates dense residues after being ignited to isolate and extinguish the flame,and the real fire hazards of IFRE02ES02 decreases sharply.IFRE02ES02 was used to prepare the halogen-free flame-retardant PP moulding foam IFRMPP15A.According to UL94 orizontal burning foamed material test,grade of IFRMPP15A with uniform,closed,and independent cells structure is up to HF-1.IFRMPP15A is a low-density light weight material with excellent flame retardancy,and mechanical and thermal insulation properties of it are similar to pure PP foam.
