Abstract: | Following inpatient treatment in an acute psychiatric facility, 253 adolescents (129 boys and 124 girls; mean age?=?15.3 years) evaluated individual psychotherapy by completing the Child Evaluation Inventory (CEI). A principal-components analysis (varimax rotation) was conducted on the intercorrelations of the 19 CEI items. The results suggested a 2-factor structure consisting of Progress and Acceptability. Internal consistencies (Cronbach's alpha) for the Factor 1 and Factor 2 items were .928 and .889, respectively. Zero-order correlations with independent ratings by the individual therapists suggest reasonably elevated concurrent validity for the CEI.
