Abstract: | In this work we present a new approach to obtaining the subband structures of arbitrary-shape cross-section quantum wires. The method can be implemented for a general band structure, thus making it possible to introduce the anisotropic and non-parabolic features of the band into the analysis. Finally we compare the results obtained using anisotropic and non-parabolic band models with isotropic and parabolic ones in a triangular cross-section Si quantum wire with several crystalline orientations. |
