Abstract: | Presents the citation, biography, and bibliography for Rogers H. Wright, the 1985 recipient of the American Psychological Association's Award for Distinguished Contributions to Applied Psychology as a Professional Practice. Known by many as the 'Father of Professional Psychology,' Dr. Wright has been in the forefront of the struggle for recognition by Professional Psychology. Possibly the most important and powerful contribution that Dr. Wright has made was in co-founding and being the first President of the Committee for the Advancement of Psychological Professions and Sciences (CAPPS), the group that introduced Psychology into public policy advocacy. It was this group that brought the American Psychological Association into the public policy arena and led to the establishment of AAP and the various policy groups within APA that now play such a major part in APA's program.
