Abstract: | P. Moxnes's (see record 1999-13879-001) model of deep and transformational group roles provides an interesting psychoanalytic perspective on group interactions. This commentary examines and questions Moxnes's assertions on the nature of dichotomous thinking as a normative cognitive style in group interactions, the lawfulness of role dualities, and the necessity of identifying roles as polarized "personas" in order to understand and facilitate effective group development.
