Relative Volatility of C4 Hydrocarbons in Mixture of Morpholine and N-Formylmorpholine

The pressure -composition data of C4 hydrocarbons dissolved in mixture of morpholine and N-formylmorpholine at different temperatures are determined with a static method. The experimental data are compared with the saturated vapor pressure curves of pure C4 hydrocarbons, which show that n-butane and 1-butene are the key components by an extractive distillation using mixture of morpholine and N-formylmorpholine as solvent to separate butanes and butenes. The relative volatility of n-butane to 1-butene is 1. 30-1. 45. The best ratio of morpholine to N-formylmorpholine in the mixture is 40% -50% to 60% -50%.
