Abstract:The original position statistic distribution analysis method of inclusions based on scanning electron microscope and energy spectrum analysis was established. The original position statistic distribution analysis on composition, type, quantity and size of inclusions in four regions (i.e., the wheel hub, spoke plate near hub, spoke plate near rim and wheel rim) in the wheel longitudinal profile of large-size D-series electric multiple unit (D2 EMU) was conducted. The distribution rules of the quantity, size and particle area of various inclusions in different regions were discussed. It was found that the main typical inclusions in the wheel were oxides, strip-shaped sulfides, spherical sulfides, and oxygen-sulfur complexes. Among them, the quantity of oxides, spherical sulfides, and oxygen-sulfur complex inclusions was most in the rim area, while the quantity of strip-shaped sulfides was most in the spokes near the hub. Total area of oxides, spherical sulfides, and oxygen-sulfur complex inclusions in the hub and rim was generally larger than the web area, but the total area of strip-shaped sulfide inclusions in the rim area was smaller than that in other areas. Meanwhile, the particle size of three types of inclusions (oxides, spherical sulfides, and oxygen-sulfur composites) was mainly concentrated in range of 2-5 μm. The strip-shaped sulfide with size greater than 10 μm accounted for the largest proportion, and the large-size inclusion particles in the rim area accounted for the smallest proportion, which was consistent with the requirements of the wheel preparation process.
