| Abstract: | Polyurethane integral skin foams and elastomers synthesized by aromatic isocyanates are resistant to the influences of weather but yellow under exposure to light. This is the reason for the use of dark pigmentation or painting as protection. UV stabilizers and reducing compounds added to the system, slow down but do not prevent discolouration. In order to avoid the expensive painting procedure, light stable integral skin foams were developed through application of aliphatic isocyanates. Foam performance and foam properties similar to those foams synthesized from aromatic isocyanates were achieved by the addition of special catalysts, so that all requirements of the market could be fulfilled. |
