Abstract:Over the past decade,there have been rapid advances in our understanding of miRNA biogenesis and mechanism; however,many fundamental questions still remain in regard to how miRNA expression is connected to cell function. In order to achieve this level of understanding,it will likely be necessary to quantify miRNA abundance at the single-cell level,so that correlations can be drawn with cell phenotype. LNA-ELF FISH,a highly sensitive and specific method for miRNA detection,allows single miRNA molecules to be visualized in individual cells in situ.
