On the implementation of iterated defect correction to finite difference methods for elliptic boundary-value problems

Abstract:We present a method which makes it possible to apply the idea of iterated defect correction to finite difference methods for the numerical treatment of partial differential equations. The method yields numerical approximations of very high accuracy for the solution, while the corresponding algebraic systems of equations still have ‘reasonable’ size.
