| Abstract: | The paper describes the time effect characteristics of main roof deformation and its visco-elastic solution.The creep test of sandstone has proved that the roof has high rheological property in high stress condition. A conclusion drawn by the paper is that there exists an area of remarkable rheology in high stress condition of the main roof in the workings. And the associated deformation and pressure transfer due to this area will accelerate roof convergence of the gateways in front of the face. This is a fore-warning of weighting due to fracture of the main roof. The successful predictions in two mines described in the paper have proved the reliability of this conclusion. |
