Abstract:In this study,the structural behavior of high strength steel(HSS)hot-finished elliptical hollow section(EHS)subjected to uniaxial eccentric compression is investigated.Different parameters,such as the radius of the larger and smaller outer diameter of EHS,thickness of EHS,eccentricity,and material property,are considered.It is concluded that current design provisions,such as EN 1993-1-1,BS 5950-1,AS4100,and Gardner et al.,are conservative for predicting the HSS hot-finished EHS under uniaxial eccentric compression.
