| Abstract: | Styrene reacts with bromine at 10～15℃ in tetrachlorocarbon to give 1,2 dibromoethylbenzene which then undergos a dehydrobromation by refluxing with potassium hydroxide in methanol to from phenylacetylene.The overall yield is 60%. |
