Abstract: | The several aspects of validity, psychometric properties and diagnostic capabilities of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) are critically examined. Among the many limitations of the test perhaps the most serious is the lack of an adequate theoretical rationale which makes assessment of validity difficult. On the positive side the standardization of the WISC is relatively good and it correlates consistently well with other measures of intelligence. 76 refs.
