Abstract: | The effect of annealing temperatures up to 400°C on characteristics of serrated flow was investigated at different test temperatures. Guinier-Preston zones which form due to annealing around 70°C, and incoherent precipitates which form between 200 and 240°C suppress serrated flow. However, both types of precipitates act through different mechanisms, affecting the characteristics of serrations in distinctly different ways. In tests at elevated temperatures, deformation-induced precipitation and redissolution is of importance. |
