| Abstract: | Ammonium chlorochromate has been found to be an excellent reagent for the oxidative cleavage of 1,2-diols to corresponding aldehyde and ketone under mild conditions. The experiment is presented to show that not only the operation is very convenient, but also the isolation is simpler. Compared with other methods, the results obtained are satisfactory. |
