| Abstract: | The montmorillonites with different layer cations(monovalent Li,Na,K,Rb,Cs;divalent Mg,Ca,Sr,Ba:and trivalent Y,La,Nd,Eu)were prepared by ionexchange method and the influence of the layer cations on the properties of themontmorillonites were investigated.The dehydration of the adsorption and layer wa-ter of the montmorillonites could occur as a mono-process or in two stages depend-ing on the different layer catons.The electrical charges of the layer cations hadmuch stronger influence on the conductivity of the montmorillonites than their ionicradii had. |
