Dissipative model of film boiling crisis

Abstract:A dissipative model of the film boiling crisis based on the variational hypothesis of nonequilibrium phase change is presented. Transfer systems—characteristic for film and transition boiling of a liquid droplet on a plane horizontal and isothermal heating surface—were constructed. The value of the minimum film boiling temperature Tp,min was calculated from the criterion of equality of local potentials for two competitive transfer systems. The curves p = p(Tp,min) for hydrodynamic and thermodynamic models of the film boiling crisis for water have been determined and compared with the results achieved for the dissipative model.
