Abstract: | Conclusion Nitrogen lowers and chromium raises (with >3% N) the strength ( b 0.2), ductility ( , ), and fracture toughness of austenitic stainless steel of the Kh(18-24)N20 type in the aged condition. The effect of chromium on the properties is due to a change in the solubility of nitrides.I. P. Bardin Central Scientific-Research Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy.
