Abstract:Investigated in this paper are the multiresolution representations of endpoint interpolating B spline curves/surfaces defined by arbitrary knot vectors and their applications in fairing B spline surfaces.An approach is proposed to approximate any B spline curve/surface by a quasi uniform one,and,then,to converte the orignal one into multiresolution form by the multiresolution representation of the approximating one.The algorithms suggested are general and simple.Sample shows that to fair B spline surfaces by wavelet decomposition posesses two prominent advantages:high computing efficiency and proper trade off between approximating error and the number of control points of approximating surface(i.e fairing surface).
