Abstract: | A relationship between the dissipation of the fluctuational electromagnetic field energy, tangential (decelerating) force, and heating rate of a neutral particle moving parallel to a plane polarizable surface is considered for the first time in a nonrelativistic approximation. The formulas obtained take into account dielectric properties of the particle and surface. |
