Abstract: | One of the most critical issues in supersonic flight is the thermal protection of the rocket engine combustion chamber. The ribs' construction can improve heat transfer and coolant flow characteristics significantly. Ansys fluent was used to investigate the supercritical hydrogen fuel flow and heat transfer characteristics. Ribs spacing of 10 mm, 5 mm, and 2.5 mm were compared to determine the optimal spacing required to achieve maximum cooling influence and lower pressure drop to safeguard the overheated structure and lower the temperature of the walls. Compared to the smooth channel, the thermal performance factor and pressure drop of the 5 mm spacing increased by 32.5% and 16.64%, respectively, while the maximum temperature reduced by 12.07%. Therefore, the cylindrical rib construction with a 5 mm spacing is perfect for improving heat transfer, has acceptable pressure drops, and reduces thermal stratification inside the channel. |
