Analysis of Design and Commercial Application of Methanol Synthesis Reactor in 500000t/a Methanol Project

The paper gave a brief introduction to the methanol synthesis technology at home and abroad and the survey about LP large-scaled methanol synthesis reactors. Yankuang Group Co., Ltd. licensed the technology of "adiabatic-externally cooled composite tubular reactor" from East China University of Technology for the 500 000t/a methanol plant. The paper expatiated the process of methanol synthesis and the operation conditions of the reaction. Besides, the principle of process design and equipment design were introduced for the methanol synthesis reactor. It was decided to adopt the twin tower (in parallel) operation method. The advantages and features of the methanol synthesis reactor were introduced, and the operation experience over half a year shows that the operation was successful and it is envisaged that the project shall be very profitable.
