| Abstract: | Coherent system is a competitive alternative to IM/DD system for inter-satellite optical communications. The history of research and development and recent progresses in coherent systems and the relevant devices are reviewed. With the breakthrough of high quality laser technologies, inter-satellite coherent optical Communication is on the verge of becoming a reality. |
