Abstract:Stability of paper machine wet end is important ,because it is directly related to paper machine runnability and the quality of the product.The stability can be achieved at lowest cost by utilizing reliable,continuous measurements of the key wet variables:consistency,ash and charge.This paper presents two solutions.Retention control,which is based on the control of white water consistency,appreciably improves wet end stability,paper quality and machine runnability.On the other hand,charge measurement of the wet end enables the op-timization of the charge-dependent additives and helps to avoid process upsets.This paper gives practical examples of such control.
