After summarizing the related theories about function mix,the paper analyzes the course of development,spatial characteristics and the main problem from the phenomenon of single function and mechanical partition of university city in China and proposes the revelation of the theory about function mix to the construction of University City:the introduction of high-tech industries,residential and commercial service facilities to achieve the diversification of land use,propose multiple modes of function mix to achieve intensive land use and compact layout,create comprehensive urban functions and extensive urban spatial form of the university city to gather popularity and enhance vitality.
