| Abstract: | This article starts with essence of the assessment work and current situation of the dilapidated houses in Peng Zhou after the devastating earthquake hit Sichuan Province on May 12th. With some preliminary analysis made on the features and causes of damage to the houses, relevant suggestions are given on upgrading the earthquake resistance of the houses in the purpose of regarding ＂people-oriented＂ as the principle, upon which design and construction of the building should be carried out. |
