Abstract:High frequency(HF) radar is playing an important role in modem war,while because of the heavy clutter,new algorithm for HF radar target detection is needed.As to the shortage for HF radar warship detection using coherent integration algorithm, a new method based on fractal character is presented.Fractal dimension is calculated by box dimension algorithm,adaptive detection threshold is also given.Fractal algorithm is verified by the actual data,experiment results imply that plane and warship targets can be effectively detected by fractal algorithm,besides,the fractal algorithm needs less time,the fractal algorithm can be an additional algorithm for HF radar to improve detection accuracy.
