Abstract:Poly(N-(2-ethylamino)asparagine)(PEAA) was obtained by the addition reaction of polysuccinimide(PSI) and ethylenediamine, which can chelate with Pb2+and Cu2+in aqueous solution. The maximum chelating capacities for Pb2+is 49.81 mg/g, and the removal rate is as high as 92.98%;the maximum chelating capacities for Cu2+is 19.01 mg/g, and the removal rate reaches 83.62%. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) were used to study the adsorption mechanism for Pb(4f) and Cu(2p), and the results showed that metal ions are chemically adsorbed to the amide, amino and carboxyl groups on PEAA by coordination bond. It is found by scanning electron microscope(SEM) that the surface of PEAA is rough, and the internal circular pore distribution is relatively uniform, which facilitates the occurrence of adsorption. Thus, PEAA can be used as a new environmentally friendly chelating agent to remove heavy metal ions.
