| Abstract: | A new method of detecting the trace left behind by a moving object in a digitized image is developed and compared with the Hough transform of line detection. Under a very general condition, the new method is shown to be better. The implementation of this method to detect ships on SEASAT satellite pictures is also discussed.This research was supported in part by the National Science Foundation under Grant ECS-8005953, the Naval Research Laboratory under Contract N00014-82-C-2156, and the Office of Naval Research under Contract NR-609-007. |
