| Abstract: | The cytotoxicity of captafol, a phthalimide-derived fungicide, was evaluated in IB-RS-2 cells. Captafol at 0.12-1.0 microgram/ml blocks the cell multiplication. This effect is concentration-dependent, only partially reversible and the degree of inhibition increases with time. The synthesis of DNA and RNA is inhibited in parallel by increasing concentrations of the chemical. |
