| Abstract: | The field emission characteristics of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) including turn-on field, threshold field, density of emission current, current stability and electronic energy distribution are discussed in detail. The mechanisms of field emission are also clarified. The dependence of emission characteristics on geometrical structure, adsorption states and defects at the tip of CNTs is analyzed. The practical applications of field emission characteristics from CNTs in flat panel display areas are introduced in brief. |
