Research on surface defects of cold rolled sheet

The present paper introduces the appearance, cause of formation of and precautionary measure against the major surface defects of the cold rolled ultra-low carbon steel sheet. Research shows that the surface defects of the cold rolled sheet can be divided into two major categories, i.e. normal defects and abnormal ones. Formation of the normal defects is closely related with the cold rolling process, while the mechanism of formation of the abnormal defects is fairly complicated, very possibly due to either inap- propriate steel-making process or rolling process, and therefore analysis on the specific case is the only way to solve the problem.
