| Abstract: | Chemical factors affecting the corrosion of carbon steel in fresh water are discussed in this paper. These factors are dissolved oxygen, pH, velocity of flow, electroconductivity, alkalinity, anions, calcium carbonate equilibria, and temperature. A list of inhibitors in common use and the operating conditions for them are also introduced. |
