Abstract: | A number of design rules have been widely used in industry since they are easy for designers to apply and understand. However, many design rules affect each other and a design rule may conflict with the interests of other rules. One way to satisfy the design requirements is to apply design rules based on their relative importance. This paper discusses the relationship of the design rules and the design requirements and the interaction between any pair of design rules in the house of quality. An integer programming approach, a modified maximum spanning tree algorithm, and a genetic algorithm, respectively, are provided to determine a priority order of design rules, with illustrative examples. |
