| Abstract: | The basic principles involved in the operation of an alkaline zinc—air system are considered. Fully developed primary and mechanically rechargeable cells and their applications are reviewed. Various obstacles pertaining to the development of an electrically rechargeable zinc—air alkaline battery and possible means of overcoming them to some degree are summarized. |
