Abstract:We have determined the nucleotide sequence of a segment from chromosome III of Saccharomyces cerevisiae extending over 7.9 kb between the PGK1 and CRY1 loci. The fragment contains seven open reading frames, YCR241, YCR242, YCR243, YCR244, YCR245, YCR246 and YCR247, of more than 70 codons. The study of the effects of a global disruption of YCR242, YCR243, YCR244, YCR245 and YCR247 shows that they are not essential for growth and division.
