Study on the Technology of Electrocatalytic Oxidation-Biodegradation for Phenol Wasterwater

Abstract:The phenol wastewater was treated by electrocatalytic oxidation-biodegradation technology.The electrocatalytic oxidation of phenol on Pt electrode had been studied by cyclic voltammetry and the effects of pH value,temperature,inoculation amount on biodegradation had been investigated.The results indicated that,for wastewater containing 200 mg·L-1 phenol,electrocatalytic oxidized for 120 min under the conditions as follows: the pH value of 10,the NaCl concentration of 10 g·L-1,the current density of 50 mA·cm-2,the phenol was completely removed,the COD removal rate reached 43% and the BOD/COD ratio reached 0.70,which showed the biodegradation of the wastewater got more feasible.Furthermore,the COD content was reduced to 30 mg·L-1 after biodegradation for 48 h under the conditions as follows: the pH value of 6,the temperature of 30℃,the inoculation amount of 2%.The total removal rate of COD of 94% was obtained by the electroxidation-biodegradation technology.
