| Abstract: | There has been a paradigm shift towards the use of performance-based standards for the design and analysis of process operations and safety instrument systems. These new standards allow the designer to provide a ＂fit for purpose＂ system that meets the risk criteria rather than simply applying ＂best practices＂ rules that may lead to over design and excessive cost. |
