Through the difficult times of the 1960sto the prosperous 1990s, Singapore saw many roles played towards the physical development of the nation by various establishments and individuals, the list of good organisations. large and small practices, govemmental institutions and private firms. and architects are too many to be all included here.this article briefly paints some aspets of practice prior to independence of Singapore as backdrop, and then introduces a few of the contemporary organisatins and architects. it is intended to outline their thinking or works that showed impact on the built environment. the social economic community.won outstanding competition awords or commendations. or contributed some innovations. guidance and directions in architectural design in Singapore and its region over the past thirty years.
