The work aims to explore the application strategies of traditional patterns in rattan furniture design. Based on the current background of the times and the actual situation of rattan furniture design, according to the application parts and functions of traditional patterns in furniture design, such as structural decorative parts, surface weaving, Chinese knot, and frame binding, the application details of traditional patterns in rattan furniture design were analyzed. Starting from four aspects like direct reference, deformation recombination, beautiful meaning and coordination, and taking specific traditional patterns as an example, the design philosophy and methods of rattan furniture were deeply analyzed. The combination of traditional patterns and rattan furniture is not simply indiscriminate imitation, but should be reasonably simplified and refined according to the furniture''s own characteristics, so as to achieve the unity with the overall style of the furniture.
