Chemical machining as a precision material removal process

The adaptation of a photochemical machining process to replace a precision machining operation is presented. An ultrasonically activated photoresist was used to establish the cutting boundary, and an etchant was used as a cutting tool to remove material from the workpiece. This precision material removal process proved to be highly effective when compared to more conventional precision machining techniques.
