Abstract:A remote monitor system was designed to manage the data of fiber amplifiers based on simple network management protocol (SNMP). On the management side, there was a friendly user management interface made by SNMP++. Meanwhile, MSP430, a single chip microcomputer and CS8900A, a network interface card driver chip were used as supporting hardware on the agent side. Private nodes of management information base file were made, which represented objects of the fiber amplifier needing management. Through the union test with an actual fiber amplifier, corresponding private nodes of this system could be managed in the user management interface. It shows that this remote monitor system can be used to manage a fiber amplifier.
