Progress on Functionalized Ruthenium(II)-diimine Complexes as Reactive Phosphors

To prevent phosphors in oxygen sensitive fluorescent membrane from leaching, many scientists tried to synthesize phosphors with reactive functional groups and chemically bond the phosphor to membrane substrates. Here, the research work on reactive ruthenium (II)-diimine phosphors have been reviewed, including the synthesis of reactive bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline ligands as well as their ruthenium (II) complexes, and the fabrication of fluorescent membrane with the reactive phosphors. Also, the fluorescent features of the fluorescent membranes for dissolved oxygen sensor with reactive ruthenium (II)-diimine phosphors have been outlined.
