| Abstract: | This paper points out shortcomings of the application of traditional word-based Chinese word segmentation method to Chinese search engines. A new character-based approach to word segmentation for Chinese search engines is proposed. Furthermore, the indexing, querying, and ambiguity eliminating systems are designed and implemented. |
